Correction Slip

Published: Thu 15th Jan 26

This document serves as an official correction notice for The Charities Act 2022 (Commencement No. 4 and Saving Provision) Regulations 2025, making three specific amendments: clarifying the wording relating to section 40, inserting a footnote reference for the 'Sir John Soane's Museum' entry in the Schedule, and introducing the content of that new footnote referencing the 1833 Act and its subsequent supersession.

Arguments For

  • Ensures precise and accurate legal referencing within statutory instruments affecting charity law administration.

  • Corrects typographical errors to maintain the integrity of the commencement order for the Charities Act 2022.

  • Clarifies the scope of section 40 of the 2022 Act by specifying its title within the commencement regulations.

Arguments Against

  • Introduces further documents (the correction itself) that must be referenced when interpreting the original commencement order.

  • The need for a correction suggests potential lapses in the initial proofreading process of the statutory instrument.
