- -(1) This Order may be cited as the Welfare Reform Act 2012 (Commencement No. 30 and Transitory Provisions) (Amendment) (England) Order 2026.
- (2) It comes into force on 17th August 2026.
- (3) It extends to England and Wales, but applies only in relation to England.

Amendment of the Welfare Reform Act 2012 (Commencement No. 30 and Transitory Provisions) Order 2018
- In the Welfare Reform Act 2012 (Commencement No. 30 and Transitory Provisions) Order 2018-
- (a) after article 2 (appointed day) insert-
' Cessation of eligibility for a free school lunch in respect of certain persons
- 2A. A person who, on 16th August 2026 was eligible for a free school lunch by virtue of the transitory provision in article 3 of this Order, as it was in force on that date, ceases to be so eligible on 17th August 2026.';
- (b) omit article 3 (transitory provisions).
This section removes the temporary rules that allowed some people to keep receiving free school lunches during the transition to Universal Credit.
It specifies that any individual whose eligibility depended solely on those temporary 2018 protections will lose that eligibility on 17 August 2026.
