1. Citation and commencement

(1) This Order may be cited as the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (Amendment) Order 2024.

(2) This Order comes into force on 20th March 2024.

2. Amendments to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971

(1) Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (which specifies the drugs which are subject to control under that Act) is amended as follows.

(2) In Part 1 (which specifies Class A drugs), in paragraph 1(a)—

(a) after “Diphenoxylate” insert—

“N-Desethyl etonitazene (etazene).

N-Desethyl isotonitazene.

N-Desethyl-protonitazene.”;

(b) after “Ethylmethylthiambutene” insert—

“Etonitazepyne (itoniepyne).

Etonitazene.”;

(c) after “Hydroxypethidine” insert—

“Isotonitazene.”;

(d) after “Metazocine” insert—

“Metonitazene.”;

(e) after “Nicodicodine” insert—

“Nitazene.”;

(f) after “Norpipanone” insert—

“N-Pyrrolidino-etonitazene (etonitazepyne).

N-Pyrrolidino-isotonitazene.”;

(g) after “Oxymorphone” insert—

“Para-nitrotodesnitazene.”;

(h) after “Proheptazine” insert—

(3) In Part 2 (which specifies Class B drugs), in paragraph 1(ca), after “Cumyl-Pe-Pica” insert—
