The Coasting Schools (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2025
The Coasting Schools (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2025, enacted under powers from the Education and Inspections Act 2006, amend the 2022 regulations by substituting a revised definition of when a school is deemed 'coasting'.
The core change involves updating the specific inspection grades and conditions—differentiating between inspections before and after September 2, 2024—that trigger the coasting designation, alongside specifying the criteria a school must meet to exit that status, and providing definitions for terms like 'relevant assessment' and 'linked school'.
The School Admissions (Admission Arrangements and Co-ordination of Admission Arrangements) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2025
These Regulations, made by the Secretary of State under powers within the School Standards and Framework Act 1998, amend the 2012 School Admissions Regulations by specifically updating Schedule 4 to include a new recognized entry for the Nancy Reuben Primary School and the Office of the Rabbis of Od Yosef Hai Synagogue, Hendon, detailing its location, and these rules come into force on November 6th, 2025, and apply to both England and Wales.
The Veterinary Surgeons (Recognition of University Degree) (Harper and Keele) Order of Council 2025
This Order in Council officially recognizes the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVetMS) degree jointly conferred by Harper Adams University and the University of Keele, thereby establishing that holders of this degree meet the necessary standards to become registered members of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, provided they meet the prescribed procedural and fee requirements.
This Order, made by the Office for Students under the powers conferred by the Higher Education and Research Act 2017, amends the Power to Award Degrees etc. (Hult International Business School Ltd) Order 2023 to authorize Hult International Business School Ltd to grant taught awards up to Master’s level in defined subjects, effective from 1st December 2025 and expiring on 31st December 2029.
The Power to Award Degrees etc. (Hull College Group) Order of Council 2015 (Amendment) Order 2025
This Order, made by the Office for Students under the powers of the Higher Education and Research Act 2017, formally amends the existing 2015 Order concerning Hull College Group's power to award degrees, extending the fixed term of this competence to expire at the end of the day on March 30, 2029.
The procedure involved obtaining advice from the relevant body regarding the quality and standards of the higher education provided by the institution.
The Power to Award Degrees etc. (Walbrook Institute London Limited) Order 2025
The Office for Students (OfS), using powers granted by the Higher Education and Research Act 2017, issues this Order to authorize Walbrook Institute London Limited to grant specific taught awards, effective from September 1, 2026, until August 30, 2029, confirming that the OfS has considered relevant quality advice before issuance and noting that the order imposes no impact on businesses, civil society, or the public sector.
The Power to Award Degrees etc. (Multiverse Group Limited) Order 2025
The Office for Students grants Multiverse Group Limited authorization to award taught degrees in computing and business and management.
This authorization, effective December 2, 2025, and expiring December 1, 2027, is based on advice received on the quality of Multiverse's programs and complies with the Higher Education and Research Act 2017.
The authorization is limited to students enrolled with Multiverse at the time of course completion.
The Tonnage Tax (Training Requirement) (Amendment etc.) Regulations 2025, effective October 1st, 2025, amend the 2000 Regulations by raising payments in lieu of maritime training from £1,421 to £1,705 and the higher rate payment for training failures from £1,329 to £1,613.
These changes apply to relevant four-month periods after September 30th, 2025, and revoke the similar 2023 regulations.
The amendments increase funding for the Maritime Training Trust.
