The Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (Helicopter Flight) (No. 6) (Revocation) Regulations 2026
Revoked previous regulations that restricted helicopter flights in a specified area.
This instrument removes temporary restrictions previously imposed on helicopter flights in a specified area of UK airspace.
By revoking the Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (Helicopter Flight) (No. 6) Regulations 2026, it restores standard flight permissions for all aircraft operators previously affected by those rules.
The Department for Transport issued this order under the authority of the Secretary of State, effective immediately from 11:30 a.m. on 23 July 2026.
The Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (Colchester, Essex) Regulations 2026
Restricted the flight of drones and other unmanned aircraft in the Colchester area during a public gathering on 31 July 2026.
These Regulations prohibit the operation of unmanned aircraft below 1,200 feet above mean sea level in a defined area of Colchester, Essex, on 31 July 2026.
The restriction applies from 05:00 to 17:00 UTC (06:00 to 18:00 BST) to manage safety and security risks associated with a large public gathering.
The rules apply to all unmanned aircraft pilots, except those who obtain specific permission from the Essex Police Counter-UAS Bronze Commander.
The Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (National Eisteddfod, Wales) Regulations 2026
Restricted the flight of unmanned aircraft near the National Eisteddfod in Cardigan to ensure public safety during the large-scale gathering.
These Regulations prohibit the operation of unmanned aircraft below 1,700 feet within a one-nautical-mile radius of Cardigan, Wales, during the 2026 National Eisteddfod.
The restriction applies daily from 07:00 to 22:59 UTC between 30 July and 9 August 2026.
The mandate applies to all unmanned aircraft, unless the Dyfed-Powys Police Airspace Coordinator grants specific flight permission.
The Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo) Regulations 2026
Restricted the flight of unmanned aircraft near Edinburgh Castle during August 2026 to ensure public safety at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
These Regulations prohibit the flight of unmanned aircraft, commonly known as drones, below 1,500 feet above mean sea level in a defined area around Edinburgh Castle during the 2026 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
The restrictions apply to all unmanned aircraft operators during specified evening hours between 7 August and 29 August 2026, unless they have obtained specific permission from the Police Scotland Aviation Safety and Security Unit.
The measure is intended to protect the large crowds attending the event.
Restricted flight below 8,000 feet near Swansea for the 2026 Wales Airshow.
These Regulations established a restricted airspace zone in the vicinity of Swansea to facilitate the safe execution of the Wales Airshow on 25 and 26 July 2026.
The order prohibits all aircraft from flying below 8,000 feet above mean sea level within a specified coordinate-bounded area, except for those with express permission from the event's flying display director or where existing prison-related flight restrictions apply.
The restrictions affect all pilots and aircraft operators scheduled to be in the South Wales area during the designated operational hours.

These regulations establish temporary restricted airspace in parts of Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire on 27 July 2026 to facilitate a specific helicopter flight.

The Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (Rotherham, South Yorkshire) (Emergency) (Revocation) Regulations 2026
Cancelled emergency flight restrictions in the Rotherham area effective July 22, 2026.
These Regulations revoke the emergency flight restrictions previously imposed in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. The Secretary of State for Transport directs that the earlier restrictive instrument, S.I. 2026/800, is no longer in force, effectively reopening the airspace to standard air traffic under the Air Navigation Order 2016.
These rules apply to all pilots and aircraft operators who were previously barred from entering the specified emergency zone.
The Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (Haytor, Devon) (Emergency) (Revocation) Regulations 2026
Revoked emergency flight restrictions in the Haytor area of Devon with immediate effect.
These Regulations lift emergency flight restrictions previously imposed in the Haytor area of Devon.
By revoking the Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (Haytor, Devon) (Emergency) Regulations 2026, the Secretary of State permits the resumption of standard civil aviation activities in the affected airspace.
The order applies to all aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles that were subject to the original emergency prohibitions.
