Laws relating to criminal justice, court procedures, legal services, law enforcement, and judicial administration.
The National Health Service (Procurement, Slavery and Human Trafficking) Regulations 2025
These Regulations mandate that public bodies must assess the modern slavery risk associated with procuring goods or services for the health service in England, requiring them to take reasonable, proportionate steps to address or eliminate those risks during procurement design, contract management, and throughout the lifecycle of framework agreements and dynamic markets, with guidance to be issued by NHS England.
The Football Governance Act 2025 (Specified Competitions) Regulations 2025
These Regulations, made under the Football Governance Act 2025, officially designate the top five tiers of the men's English football pyramid—the Premier League, the Championship, League One, League Two, and the Premier Division of the National League—as 'specified competitions' to which the Act's provisions apply, effective from November 24, 2025, and extending to England and Wales.
The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 (Commencement No. 4) Regulations 2025
These Regulations officially bring into force key provisions of the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 related to digital verification services across the United Kingdom, setting the commencement date for most of Part 2, excluding sections 45 to 48 which cover public authority information sharing, to 1st December 2025, exercising powers granted under section 142(1) of the same Act.
The Extradition Act 2003 (Amendment to Designations) Order 2025
This Order, made under the Extradition Act 2003, amends the list of designated Part 2 territories by revoking the designation for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Zimbabwe due to the suspension or termination of underlying international agreements, while simultaneously adding Chile as a designated Part 2 territory following its accession to the European Convention on Extradition 1957; it also sets commencement rules and provides transitional arrangements for cases already in progress.
These Regulations, made under powers in the Sentencing Act 2020, amend previous regulations from 2023 and 2024 concerning special procedures applied to community orders and suspended sentence orders.
Specifically, the amendment extends the qualification period for these special procedures for both sets of previous regulations until March 31, 2029, ensuring that specified cases continue to receive this treatment if the relevant order is made by that date.
The Online Safety Act 2023 (Fees) (Threshold Figure) Regulations 2025
These Regulations, made by the Secretary of State following advice from Ofcom under the powers granted by the Online Safety Act 2023, establish the "threshold figure" at £250 million.
This figure determines which providers of regulated online services must notify Ofcom and pay fees to cover the regulator's online safety functions, with the threshold taking effect from the charging year beginning on 1st April 2026.
These Regulations update and consolidate the legal framework governing merchant vessels used in commercial activities related to sport or pleasure, applying to UK vessels globally and other seagoing vessels in UK waters, excluding those carrying more than twelve passengers or pleasure vessels not engaged commercially.
The legislation details specific survey and certification requirements based on vessel size (large vessels subject to the REG Code, small vessels subject to the SCV Code), establishes appeal processes including arbitration for survey disputes, outlines certificate validity and conditions for cancellation, sets out operational requirements, and defines offenses and detention powers for enforcement against non-compliant vessels.
These Regulations empower the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to grant credit towards UK Air Traffic Controller (ATCO) licence requirements for specified training and experience obtained by applicants holding either a third-country ATCO licence or a UK military certificate of competence.
This credit can manifest as a reduction in course duration, the number of lessons, or specific training hours, provided the CAA obtains and assesses a comprehensive credit report from a training organisation confirming the equivalence of the prior training to the UK ATCO training requirements, excluding cases covered by existing international agreements.
